Gene has always had an attraction to race bikes, but his parents were always completely against motorcycles, so getting one was impossible until he was on his own & making money. Finally in May of 2002 (5/02, which is where he got the inspriation for his number), he finally saved up enough money to get a 1992 CBR600 F2. It had only 22,000 miles on it! He immediately fell in love with riding, and spend most of the summer canyon bashing. In 2003, he felt it was time to step up to a 750, so he picked up a 1997 Suzuki 750 SRAD. May of 2003 he did his first track day at PPIR, and was instantly hooked. There was no going back, he had to get a race bike and race it. With the help of Justin Meyer (#74) and Jason Leleck (#399) everything fell into place for the 2004 season.
